Gerbera Flowers

15 August 2017 - Wedding Flowers, Wholesale Flowers

Just in time for the bank holiday weekend and the height of wedding season, we are delighted to share with you the beauty of Gerbera flowers.

The Gerbera is part of the Asteraceae family and is unscented. A flower that resembles the common daisy, only quite a bit bigger and so much more colourful. In 2016; 900 million Gerbera flowers were grown in the Netherlands and there are currently around 600 different varieties of colour, shape and size available around the world.

Gerbera are generally around 10cm in diameter with their little sister Germini around 6cm diameter. We are proud to stock both all year round but nothing says summer quite like these beautiful flowers. Both Gerbera and Germini are very versatile blooms and look brilliant in all types of arrangement. From a thank you bouquet to a corporate display, even in jam jars or individual vases for weddings or hotels.

You can find a huge number of Gerbera and Germini flowers to order on our website all year round, with an influx of varieties added during the summer months.

How to care for Gerbera:

  • trim the stem diaganolly with a sharp knife or florists scissors
  • fill a clean glass with around 7cm of room temperature water
  • add the flowers to the vase
  • consider wiring the stems to keep them upright
  • ensure the room temperature is is no higher than 20C

  • regularly change or top up the water
